I have installed MATLAB 8 and is working fine on my 32 bit XP3 PC.The process is same for windows 7.If you have any doubts about system configuration go to http://www.mathworks.in/support/sysreq/current_release/
This package is heavy and very advanced ! Hope this video will help you know how to install.
